Samod Wilson is a Fayetteville-based visual artist whose work explores identity, faith, family, resilience, culture, and the human experience. Raised in the church, faith and spirituality have long influenced the way he sees life, purpose, and creativity.
In 2014, Samod began intentionally sharing his artwork and developed the phrase “Painting ON Purpose,” reflecting his belief that art should carry meaning and connect with people beyond the canvas.
A graduate of Fayetteville State University, Samod earned a Bachelor of Business Administration with a concentration in Marketing. A self-developed artist, his creative perspective has been influenced by Jean-Michel Basquiat, Ernie Barnes, Banksy, and Walt Disney, drawing inspiration from their individuality, storytelling, imagination, and ability to connect with people.
Over the years, Samod has sold numerous original works and thousands of prints to collectors around the world, while also having his work featured in numerous group exhibitions and art shows. In 2026, he reached another milestone with It’s About Time, his first solo exhibition.
Music is another major influence on his cretive process. Jazz, neo-soul, R&B, and old-school music often provide the mood, emotion, and rhythm behind his work.
Working primarily in charcoal, acrylic, and mixed media, Samod brings together personal experiences, faith, culture, music, and everyday moments to create visual stories that invite people to reflect, connect, and find pieces of themselves within the work.
